Self-watering plants
When leaving your plants for a few days (maybe even up to a week), here is a fool-proof way to provide a steady source of water without hiring a plant sitter. Find a large enough tray to fit the pots in. I typically fit 4 small planters in a large rectangular casserole. Place a folded-in-half towel (hand towels are great) in the bottom of the tray. Soak the towel with water. Wet, wet, wet. Now place the recently watered flower pots on top of the towel. Your plants will soak up water from the base while you’re gone!
(Make sure there are holes in the bottoms of your flower pots, of course!)
